The Answers:
Where did you grow up?
I grew up about an hour and a half north-west of New York City in Middletown, New York. I
attended school in the Pine Bush School District, graduating in 1993.
I have an older and and a younger sister. Growing up the middle child and the only boy
could be tough from time to time. If you ask I might tell you
the barrette story, not a pretty picture. On a happier note, my older sister gave birth to my niece
Amelia Cate Simons, look for pictures on the site and in class.
I recently completed a Masters Degree in IntegratingTechnology in the Classroom from
Walden University. Prior to that I earned my teaching certificate at the State University of
New York at New Paltz. However, I began my college career at York College of
Pennsylvania where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science while minoring in
American History.
What is your work experience?
Upon graduating from York College in 1997 I began working as a one-on-one behavior
counselor working with at-risk youths. After three enjoyable
years as a counselor I worked as a substitute teacher while earning my teaching certificate.
In 2004-05 I taught 11th & 12th Grade Social Studies at New Paltz High School. Twice now
I have taught in the Rondout Valley Central School District, teaching in an 8th Grade U.S. History
classroom. During my summers I work as the director of sleepaway camp in the Berkshire
Mountains on the New York and Massachusetts border. I am currently in my second year
at Circleville Middle School and have loved returning to my own middle school and working with
some of my own teachers.
What are your hobbies?
My favorite hobby is playing sports, baseball, basketball, volleyball, running, and hockey are my
favorites. In college I was a member of the track,
cross-country and volleyball teams. If you can't guess I'm a sports junkie, I love ESPN. At the
same time, I also enjoy reading, camping, fishing, and going to see live music whenever I can.
What are your favorite sports teams?
As I have said, I am a huge sports fan. My favorite pro teams are the Mets, Jets, Knicks, and
Rangers. If you're a Yankees fan, watch out!
Who are you favorite muscians/bands?
Currently, my favorite band is Robert Randolph and the Family Band. They are a mix of R&B,
rock, and soul, covering Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne
and Beyonce. I also enjoy the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Tenacious D,
Allman Brothers Band, Black Crowes, Ray Charles, Beastie Boys, and many, many more. If

Have you ever traveled anywhere exciting?
In addtion to trips to Canada and Mexico I have taken extended trips to Spain and Israel.
